Things to Do
NOROSHI sits past Yabitsu Village, where the sea, the hills and the lanes are all
in use. The question here is not whether there is anything to do. It is which of it
you get to.

Two stretches of water
Yabitsu/Yuasa Bay
The bay starts at the foot of the village. Take a SUP board out to the blue cave and the green cave, or snorkel with the fish.
Ask Yabitsu Village if you would like to go out.
Menoura Beach
A shallow, quiet beach three minutes away by car, where you can swim. Walk the sand for shells, or stay for the sunset.
On a clear day you can also reach it on foot from Yabitsu, about 20 minutes along the track. Follow the signs.
Fishing
Anglers come to Arida year-round. Stand on the breakwater and you will see why.
Catch something in season and take it back to the house: in the pot, or as sashimi.
Yabitsu Village runs fishing sessions and hires out tackle.

Smoke and a table
Yabitsu Village has an outdoor barbecue terrace looking out over the sea. Cook with the people you came with, and sit around it.
Where there is smoke, people gather. That has been true here for four hundred years.
You can turn up with nothing and everything will be supplied. Guests of NOROSHI get 50% off the facility fee.
Walking the village
On the hill above the houses is the site of the signal station the domain used in the Edo period. It is about 15 minutes on foot from NOROSHI, and it is where this
village started.
Below it: Nanryu Jinja, the shrine to Tokugawa Yorinobu, who founded the settlement, and lanes between houses stacked on the slope.
You can walk four hundred years of it in an afternoon.
Eating what comes out of this water
Three minutes by car is Hama no Utase, the fish market run by the Minoshima Fisheries Co-operative.
Buy a fish there and they will fillet it for you, free. Ask for sashimi cuts if that is what you want. Then take it back to the house and eat.
